Description
The purpose of the exploratory grant is to give researchers the opportunity, over a limited period, to test a potentially groundbreaking research idea, and subsequently to enable the most promising projects to be further developed. The initiative is open to innovative and transformative projects across all fields of research. Researchers awarded an exploratory grant will be eligible to apply for a longer follow‑up grant. We plan to open a call for the Exploratory grant in groundbreaking research again in spring 2027 and annually thereafter.

Individual researchers
Individual researcher who completed a doctoral degree more than more than 2 years ago and up to 12 years ago by the deadline of the call. You must have obtained external research funding through competition amounting to at least 2 000 000 SEK in total, with a grant period that is ongoing in 2026 or that ended no earlier than 1 January 2024.
